Bat surveys (from mid October)
We are carrying out bat surveys across the site to help us understand the types of bat species present and how they use the area.
These surveys involve walking four set ‘transects’ (routes) at dusk, when bats are most active, as well as placing small static detectors at key locations around the site. The transects are being completed across the year, with surveys in April, August and October.
This is part of our ongoing ecological monitoring at the site, helping us to build a clear understanding of local bat populations and their activity patterns.
The work is undertaken by experienced ecologists using specialist equipment that records bat calls without causing disturbance.
The surveys will continue during the evenings in the coming months, but are not expected to cause any disruption.
