South Brooks Solar Farm

This website introduces our proposals for South Brooks Solar Farm, a proposed new solar farm with battery storage that would connect into the National Grid at Dungeness Substation.

We are now carrying out a second phase of public consultation on the updated proposals for South Brooks between 28 May – 9 July 2026, and we want to hear from you.

All of the consultation materials can be found on the Document Library.

What is South Brooks Solar Farm?

South Brooks is a proposed new solar farm with battery storage located near Lydd.

Connecting into the National Grid at Dungeness Substation, South Brooks would be capable of providing enough clean, secure electricity to power over 140,000 homes each year.

South Brooks is backed by PS Renewables and EDF power solutions UK – two experienced developers, builders and operators of solar farms in the UK.

The planning process

Because South Brooks would generate more than 50 megawatts of energy, it is classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).

This means we need to apply for a type of planning consent called a Development Consent Order (DCO) to build and operate it.

DCO applications are decided by the relevant Secretary of State. This means that the DCO application for South Brooks will be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Public consultation

The first phase of consultation on the early plans and proposals took place between 18  September and 30 October 2025. The feedback we received, along with environmental assessments and technical work, has informed the plans we are now sharing for further feedback.
