Modular River Physical surveys (w/c 10th August)
We are carrying out Modular River Physical (MoRPh) surveys across the proposed South Brooks Solar Farm site.
This survey allows us to understand in more detail the physical condition of a watercourse, including any associated habitats.
Each survey is completed at small watercourse stretches, typically when water flow is low, so that surveyors can observe the riverbed, bank faces and bank tops. Qualified ecologists observe from the banks of the watercourse, and no wading is required. Surveyors are looking to document any natural features, vegetation, and sediments, as well as any human impacts on the watercourse.
We are undertaking this survey principally to inform the baseline of our environmental assessments. The results of this survey are important to understand how we can mitigate any effects from the projects on watercourses, as well as potential opportunities to provide biodiversity enhancement.
We are collecting this data over a period of one week. You may see members of the team located in proximity to local watercourses during this time.
