South Brooks Solar Farm

This website introduces our proposals for South Brooks Solar Farm, a proposed new solar farm with battery storage that would connect into the National Grid at Dungeness Substation.

We consulted on our early proposals for South Brooks Solar Farm between 18 September – 30 October 2025. The feedback we received will be used to inform the development of our proposals, which will be presented for further consultation next year.

Our communication channels remain open for anyone who’d like to discuss the project. We will also be regularly updating our news page with information about the progress of the project, such as planned survey works.

What is South Brooks Solar Farm?

South Brooks is a proposed new solar farm with battery storage located near Lydd.

Connecting into the National Grid at Dungeness Substation, South Brooks would be capable of providing enough clean, secure electricity to power over 140,000 homes each year.

South Brooks is backed by PS Renewables and EDF power solutions UK – two experienced developers, builders and operators of solar farms in the UK.

The planning process

Because South Brooks would generate more than 50 megawatts of energy, it is classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).

This means we need to apply for a type of planning consent called a Development Consent Order (DCO) to build and operate it.

DCO applications are decided by the relevant Secretary of State. This means that the DCO application for South Brooks will be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Public consultation

The first phase of consultation on our early plans and proposals took place between 18 September and 30 October 2025. We shared our plans at this very early stage to ensure that community and technical feedback can be built into our design from the outset.
